John asks…What could've caused this strange loss of power?I was driving on the motorway about a month ago, for about 40 minutes, doing an average of 90-100 km/h (55-60 mi/h), which in my car equates to 2200-2500 RPM in 5th (top) gear. The car is a 1984 E30 BMW 318i.
Anyway, after climbing small hill, the engine suddenly became extremely sluggish, so I shifted back into 4th, then 3rd, then 2nd, and even in 1st it struggled to move the car! I had to floor the accelerator just to get the car
