George asks…How High Of An Ammonia Level Can Stress/Kill My Fish?My Ammonia Level is at about 0.5 ppm is That Normal. Do I Need Ammo-Lock??? How High Is It Toxic At?Nancy answers:Ammonia should be zero at all times. Any Ammonia is stressful and toxic.

DO NOT use any chemicals to control ammonia. All you will do is further upset the chemistry of the tank.

If the tank is cycled, properly stocked, adequately filtered, and you do regular water changes, the ammonia should be zero.
