Surfing For Curves Helpful?

Michael asks…What is the equation for the flat part in the heating cooling curve?I know the equation for the sloped part of the heating cooling curve for water is Q=m x s x delta T, but what's the equation for the flat part?Nancy answers:For the melting portion the equation is Q = mHf, where Hf is the heat of fusion of the substance in J/g.

For the boiling portion(vaporization portion) of the heating/cooling curve the equation is Q = mHv.

Each of these two parts are temperature independent
