Surfing For Physics Formulas For Distance?

Helen asks…Help with a physics question on distance please?I need help on a physics problem. Here it is:

"A 1,000 kg car traveling with a velocity of +20. meters per second decelerates uniformly at -5.0 meters per second^2 until it comes to rest. What is the total distance the car travels as it decelerates to rest?"

Since I'm trying to find the distance, I'm using the distance formula d=(1/2)at^2+vi(t), where d=distance, a=acceleration, t=time, and vi=initial velocity. The problem I'm
