Lisa asks…I have some questions about how to calculate the Rotational Motion in Physics.?For example, an asteroid, whose mass is 2.0x10-4 times the mass of the earth, revolves in a circular orbit around the sun at a distance that is twice the earth's distance from the sun. What is the ratio of the kinetic energy of the asteroid to that of the earth?
I think i should use the formulae: Moment of Inertia (particles),I = mr and Rotational Kinetic Energy, K = Iω^2/2. Am i right. Thx.Nancy
