Is it because the religion is indefensible?
From what I have seen, the athiests directly quote from the bible and the Christians appear to rationalize everything away and can never offer any real satisfactory response. Much of their comebacks revolve around "the fact" that ignorant passages which appear very clear and direct at the outset are somehow always taken out of context,
