Surfing For Reaction Distance Formula?

Robert asks…The speed limit in a school zome is 40 km/h. a driver traveling at this speed sees a child run onto the road ?13 m ahead of his car. he applies the brakes and the car decelerates at a uniform rate of 8.0 m/s^2. if the driver's reaction time is .25 seconds, will the car stop before hitting the child?

how and what equation do u set up to get this answer.

i got to the part where i use a formula for distance (x=xi+vit+.5at^2)
if x13 then it does it hit the child. but i don't kno
